“For in spite of language, in spite of intelligence and intuition and sympathy, one can never really communicate anything to anybody. The essential substance of every thought and feeling remains incommunicable, locked up in the impenetrable strong-room of the individual soul and body. Our life is a sentence of perpetual solitary confinement.”
-Aldous Huxley

This very brave astronaut is Bruce McCandless II, the first man to take an untethered space walk, on a Challenger mission in 1984. He used a back-pack propulsion system called a Manned Maneuvering Unit to control his movement. You may recognize this semi-iconic photograph, taken of Bruce during this very spacewalk.

“Loneliness is the poverty of self; solitude is the richness of self.” i like this quote. and i made it into your post! yay! why does the internet make us seem so isolated like that? it’s like it helped make man an island. to quote august’s girlfriend, “i’m so glad that i’m an island now.” and that was even before there was tumblr or twitter! what was she talking about????
and i don’t think i’ve lived a full life until i’ve broken up with someone via text. i can check the phone off the list, but test, brilliant!
Sounds like August is stranded on that island for a while.
You haven’t lived til you’ve not only broken up with someone via text, but while in the same room as them.
but if i’m texting them while in the same room, it’s going to be some trickery to switch over to camcorder mode on my cell to record it and then later post it to youtube.com!
also, p.s. August Island. Pop. 1.
this is my favorite you-post ever. excluding some bits of Lost posts (which are, face it, many) this one hit me. but in the good lit-sex kind of way and not in the chris brown variety. thanks.
Damn… I don’t feel so original after seeing the guy in the narwhal costume. Narwhal’s are my favorite! In fact, I’m declaring them the official mascot of the jingle jangle.
